Initial public offerings (IPOs) from companies listed on the main board of the stock exchange decreased by 50% in 2022 compared to the previous year. The number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) IPOs increased by 92.6% this year, making them the biggest winners. There were 27 IPOs listed on the BSE last year. The number increased to 52 this year.In comparison to the 54 SME IPOs that raised Rs.759 crores in 2021, 112 SME IPOs raised a total of Rs.1950 crore.
The demand for SME IPOs was mostly driven by retail and high-net-worth investors, who were drawn in by the prospect of multi-bagger listing returns.Rachana Infrastructure had the largest SME IPO, with an issue size of Rs.76.28 crores. Olatech Solutions had the smallest SME IPO, with Rs.1.89 crores issue size.

Droneacharya Aerial Innovations Limited provides a high-end ecosystem of Drone solutions that opened for allotment on Dec 13, 2022, its issue price was Rs.54 and it got listed at Rs.102 giving its subscribers an 88% listing gain. Similarly, Annapurna Swadisht Limited, a manufacturer of snacks and food goods with headquarters in Kolkata, received 190.49 times as many subscriptions and later gave an 80% premium to the investors. Its issue price band was Rs.68 – Rs.70 and it opened at Rs.120 on Sep 27, 2022, currently, its price as on Jan 9, 2023, is Rs.136.
